Upgrade!

I just got a job as an interior design consultant, so I get to move back to Orlando! I found a studio apartment and was so excited to decorate, but, with limited funds I knew I was going to have to get very creative with the sourcing of products and styling.  I scoured garage sales and found a few key pieces with excellent potential!  I also collected a few pieces that friend and family were getting rid of. I'll post pictures of the finished room soon and then I'll add a "how-to" entries to show how I transformed all of these pieces to fit in my space.

Garage sale finds plus a table from my grandma and bookshelf from my brother:

These are the pieces that I started with, plus a white sofa from my grandma and two black end tables from a friend
...and here are my sketches of what I thought the space could look like.

Easy way to create a personalized art piece for your space.  I used a canvas board to paint the "&" sign and copper colored tacks to hang it.  You could also paint the "&" directly on your wall, or use flowers as the periods after each letter, or get a more traditional monogrammed look with two smaller letters and a larger letter in the center.  The possibilities are endless!

Art Sculpture

Have some left over Christmas ornaments that you'd like to get some more use out of?  This is a pretty easy DIY artist sculpture that only takes a little bit of silver wire (you can buy at craft stores or any hardware store.  Make sure the wire is sturdy enough to keep its shape but pliable enough to bend with some needle-nose pliers.  The roses are made from tin-foil and hot glue.  I'll post close up pictures of them in a future blog.  These frames super inexpensive from WalMart, and I made the collages out of pink images and advertisements from magazines.  Place-mats were created by cutting pink fabric into circles.  You could glue them to some cork to make them a bit more sturdy.  Super easy and quick make-over for a girly dining space!

Floral Vase Trio Makes a Great Housewarming Gift

Super easy and cute giftables.  All you need is a trio of small vases, some silver cording, buttons, rhinestones, silk flowers, and hot glue!  You could use larger, heavier vases and fill them with sand or stones and use them as book ends.

I live for crafting, painting, and designing.  These are my projects :)
